O stotoj obljetnici rođenja Mate SUIĆA (Postire, 3. XI. 1915), neumornog istraživača, muzealca, sveučilišnog profesora i akademika, u njegovu čast i spomen, Centar za interdisciplinarno istraživanje stare povijesti i Arheološki muzej Zadar pokreću znanstveno okupljanje ANTIQUITATIS SOLLEMNIA – ANTIDORON MATE SUIĆ pod pokroviteljstvom HAZU i u suradnji sa Sveučilištem u Zadru, Hrvatskim arheološkim društvom i Institutom za arheologiju.
Prvi međunarodni znanstveni skup pod tim naslovom održat će se od 3. do 6. studenoga 2015. godine u Zagrebu i Zadru, s glavnom temom povijesti naselja, osobito povijesti grada.
Znanstvenički rad Mate Suića bio je interdisciplinaran, zahvaćao je od prapovijesti do srednjega vijeka, a hrvatske je humanističke znanosti tijekom 20. st. unaprijedio mnogim i raznovrsnim doprinosima.
Svakako je najdjelatniji i najživlji onaj dio njegove znanstvene ostavštine koji se odnosi na povijest antičkoga grada, a velikim se dijelom zasniva na primjeru Jadera – Zadra i na Suićevim vlastitim istraživanjima u tome gradu. Zato tu temu stavljamo u prvi plan za okupljanje koje će se, nadamo se, ustaliti svake treće godine.
Prihvatljivi su, naravno, i radovi na druge teme iz mnogih područja kojima se bavio Mate Suić. Njegovo životno djelo višekratno je prikazano i vrednovano, stoga se očekuje da istraživači prvenstveno iznose vlastita nova postignuća.

On the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mate SUIĆ (Postire on the island of Brač, 3rd November 1915), a tireless researcher, museum director, university professor and academician, Centre for Interdisciplinary Research of Ancient History and Archaeological Museum in Zadar are launching a scientific gathering in his honour and memory called ANTIQUITATIS SOLLEMNIA – ANTIDORON MATE SUIĆ, under the patronage of Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, in collaboration with University of Zadar, Croatian Archaeological Society and Institute of Archaeology.
The first international conference under this title will be held from the 3rd to the 6th of November 2015 in Zagreb and Zadar, with the main theme of settlement history, especially history of the city.
The interdisciplinary scholarly work of Mate Suić, extending from prehistory to the middle ages, enriched Croatian historical sciences of the 20th century with numerous and diverse contributions.
The most active and the most vivid part of his scientific legacy relates to the history of the city in antiquity, and was largely based on the example of Iader – Zadar and Suić’s own research in that city. Therefore this topic is in the forefront of the gathering, which will, we hope, become a regular triennial event.
Papers on the other topics in the many areas of his research are also welcome. His own work has been repeatedly described and evaluated, and therefore primarily new contributions are expected.
